Audacity

Audacity is Linux-based mp3 software. It is compatible with any operating systems in the market, Mac OS X, Microsoft window and Linux. You may run it as you want. It’s a good software for recording live audio. Conversion of tape records into digital file format can be done also using Audacity.

It supports Ogg, Vorbis, mp3 wav and Aiff audio format. Right now Audacity has the following versions 1. Audacity 1.3.4 (beta) 2. Audacity 1.2.6 stable release. Beta version hasn’t been fully documented which require advance users while the stable has full documentation. However, both versions can be installed at the same time. Nothing beats free and open-source software
